As long as I can remember, REMI SANS FAMILLE has always been THE anime that made me cry as I was a child. The sadness of his adventures is still a harrowing memory for many of us in fact. When I began this work on REMI SANS FAMILLE, I wanted to give this sad connotation triste on my covers. Unfortunately, these covers were scheduled to kiosk sale for children, and, and making sad things for children is of bad taste (commercially speaking). I can understand that and so I made covers more focused on happy moments or, at worst, melancholy without necessarily falling in the dramatic… A few weeks later, the DVD box was about to get released. In that case there were fewer constraints if you except the box at itself. I was able to give free rein to the feelings I had when watching this series. The cahier des charges imposed by TMS for the making of the covers was very strict and perfectionist, as this japanese society is while following its productions. Despite this somewhat uncomfortable context, I think that the result is close to the emotion I was trying to convey... In any case I'm very proud to have been able to work into embellishing more this wonderful series made by TMS. |
