THE WIZARD OF OZ was initially adapted as a movie, a wonderful one starring Judy Garland as Dorothy. This film has marqué generations of that time, and it's still interesting today to see it again. This was particularly true for me when I began working on this project. I wanted something quite original for the covers composition, box visuals apart. I opted for a differentiation of many zones in these visuals : there was the main character (or characters), a scaled-down background which is a kind of porthole to the imaginary world and a frieze of miscellaneous characters with dreamlike connotations. This frieze, which IMHO is the original element of the cover, is willingly in black and white... My personal homage to the original movie starring Judy Garland that was also, due to its age, in black & white. I hope that you'll enjoy, beyond the visuals, the creative process of their making. |
