The MASTERS OF UNIVERSE first arrived in France as toys... at least, this was this way I met them, just before an animation series that was going to marquer les esprits. He-Man, the hero, had become so famous that his French name ("Musclor") has become a common word to designate a very beefy person ! Like many other kids, what I particularly liked in this unique series - which clearly was the basis of Mattel's concept - was this great alchemy and interaction there had between the toy and TV series. An alchemy owing its success among other things to the incredible creativity of toy designers and the stupendous originality of the charactersthat created this fantastic medieval world. So now OK, the criticisms made to the series (repetitive episodes, dull scenario and mainly a manichean side, abit too exacerbated) are not completely ill-founded. And, of course, if you forget the toys, the series loses a part of its interest. But we were kids ! Kids liking playing He-Man with our Mattel action figures after having watched the episode of the Wednesday afternoon... I approached this work with a nostalgic child remembrance, wishing more to rebreath life in my toys than the series itself. Which in the end clearly enabled me to enjoy this work ;-)...
