CAPTAIN FUTURE is one of the most accomplished science fiction series. Finding his origin in Edmond Hamilton novels, it takes us lightyears away from Earth to follow vibrating adventures as few space opera offered us till then. It marqued the eighties generation, and his success is still considerale nowadays... I was lucky to be able to work on two projects I present here : - the DVD boxes - the action figures

1- DVD BOX
When I began working on illustrations for the DVD Box (2005), I gave myself as goal to make horizontal covers, in order to place as many characters as possible and to make a rich composition for each adventure. Alas, the choice was made to keep the vertical format and I had to re-arrange the characters (by deleting some of them) for a more balanced composition. I then destined the old versions (horizontal with more characters) for a personal fan art : a calendar of the year 2006. You'll find below a link to download this calendar (and its unpublished/unseen illustrations) at PDF format. Note : I'd like to precise that this calendar was never subject to a commercial exploitation or any diffusion outside a " fan art " section. Only the first box has been released for now. I show you as exclusivity the planned visuals for the second one.

2- ACTION FIGURES

A very interesting project that was unfortunately finally canned. It was the year 2003. It was intended to release two series of action figures about CAPTAIN FUTURE : one with the series heroes de pied en cape, the other with the enemies to fight during the missions, as bust. Only the latter was brought off on a visual preparation point of point of view. Seven characters have been selected : the Space Emperor, Wrackar, Aquatic Men, Stazians, King Moore, the Immortality Emperor and Khalon. Each one is presented with a pedestal, a related element (chest, supporting character) and finally an appropriate scenery on the back. I added a few sketches as well as an example of colorimétrie via the RAL palette. I lao put as a bonus the preview of what Grag's figure could have been...
